Steve Davis on a 6’8” down railed, single fin, swallow tail – shaped by Hank Warner – surfing @ Pensacola Beach in 1974.
Steve is a very stylish surfer who (at least in 1974) didn’t realize how good he was.
I loved that board, and begged Steve to sell it to me. He eventually relented. I took it to San Diego when I graduated from high school. At the time, all the local kids at Crystal Pier (Pacific Beach) were into big eggs, long boards, and long, gunny single fins. I felt out of place, and foolishly sold the board. Bad move on my part. It was one of my favorite, all-time boards.
