This was most likely taken in the late 70’s. I’m not sure who it is (possibly Mike, or Randal Lewis?), but I see two interesting things in this photo: 1) the old Pier was shorter than the current concrete pier. We used to catch waves out beyond the old pier. It’s rare to do that now, mainly because it has to break farther out.
2) check out all the people on the pier. Back then, in the winter they often just left the pier open (when no one was working it), or we would simply climb over the chain link gate. It was always fun to surf with an audience on the pier, but could also be humiliating if you didn’t make the drop.
