Something just hit me…
Innerlight Surf Shop opened in Gulf Breeze in 1969. It was Greg Noll Surf Shop initially – started, and owned by Skip Savage for a short time. Skip sold it to Yancy and Ken Roose, because business was so slow it wasn’t worth it to him. Yancy bought Ken out a year or two later. But for the last 55-ish years Innerlight has been owned by Yancy and his family. As I drove through Gulf Breeze recently, I started wondering what other Gulf Breeze/Pensacola Beach business has lasted as long as this surf shop? I can’t think of any “respectable” businesses that have lasted anywhere near that long, including gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, medical offices, etc.
It’s really kind of amazing when you think of it.
