Mark Foo surfed Pensacola Beach in 1973/74, and attended Gulf Breeze High School. His parents were transferred to DC (from Hawaii, I believe), which he hated. While living in DC he met some traveling Pensacola surfers on the coast of Delaware. They embraced him, and Mark convinced his parents to let him come back with them to Pensacola to continue his high schooling. Mark loved it here. He even admitted it once in Surfer Magazine, when he was a famous surfer living in Hawaii.
