This is Brian Waters – owner and shaper of Islander Surfboards in Pensacola during the 1970’s and ‘80’s. The factory was behind Hutson Hardware and Surf Shop on New Warrington Rd. This photo was taken on his mom’s tennis court, which was behind the surfboard factory. If you see the wrinkles on the photo it’s because Mark Anderson found this photo crumpled up on a sand dune after Hurricane Opal pummeled Pensacola Beach in 1995. A corner of Brian’s house washed away, along with a lot of his contents, including this photo. Mark gave the photo to Steve Forstall, who put it up in his surf factory for years. Lots of talent emanated from Islander under Brian’s leadership including Steve Forstall, Rick Bullock, Mike and Stevie Bredesen, Ron Rousch, and Rick Settlemire.
