In the late 70’s there were only a few soft top companies out there, and no serious surfer would ever be seen riding them. They usually made body boards as well. One of the companies was Mason & Smith Soft Boards, which I think is what YS is riding. Smith was Floyd Smith, one of the original owners of Gordon & Smith. Yancy was working with photographer Jeff Snyder to try and get a photo for a Surfer Magazine Mason & Smith ad.
