In the spring of 1974 (possibly ‘73?) a few car loads of Pensacola surfers drove to Freeport, Texas to surf in the Gulf Coast Championships. Those who did well, were able to surf in the ‘74 US Championships held in Cape Hatteras.
The Texan mosquitos were huge, but the surf was really fun! I jumped on board Bill Sadler’s brand new, luxurious Monte Carlo with JB Falbo and Mark Foo. It seems like we listened to the Doobie Brothers new album the entire trip.
The dark haired guy in the white t-shirt is Mark Foo. The guy in the middle looks just like Tommy Greenwell, but he insists he didn’t go. I’m the shirtless guy.
