Tom Grow – 1962/63 – on the west side of the Pensacola Beach Pier. This would have been 2-3 years before Yancy Spencer III started surfing (1965). It was also 2-3 years before Tom was invited to compete in the World Surf Contest that was held in Peru.
If I’m not mistaken, Tom was riding his 9’6” Hobie.
