John Hollingshead took this photo of “The Bay” in December 1973 – when it was in its prime. This picture captures the “wobbles” or “ribs”, that I had forgotten about. I think they were created by the tide shifting to outgoing, especially with a strong east wind. In the early ‘70’s we were riding boards with the wide point forward, which made it a challenge to negotiate the bumps on the face.
Also, the waves would often get bigger as they bent into the bay, which made them super fun!
