Dave Skelton added so much to the Pensacola surfing experience back in the 70’s/80’s. He was a top notch surf photographer, and had some great local photos published in Surfer and Surfing. He helped put Pensacola on the world surfing map. He made so many of us traveling surfers proud to be from Pensacola. We got tired of people asking “Does Pensacola even have waves?”. Dave’s published photos helped change that.
He owned Buck’s Surf Shops for several years, and helped bring surf movies to town – at a time when we were starved for surf media.
The photo of Dave was taken at “Domes” in Puerto Rico back in the early – mid ‘70’s. He was on a mission for Surfing Magazine with Mike Bredesen and Brian Waters.
