December, 1973 – left side of the Pensacola Bch Pier
Style is such a big part of surfing. Steve Davis was a great Pensacola stylist in the ‘70’s. Here he’s riding a 6’8” AGP single fin shaped by Hank Warner. It was a down railed, double concave swallow tail . Steve was a little ahead of his time ordering a double concave bottom back then. The board also had double stringers. The only reason I can remember the details is because I loved the board and begged Steve to sell it. He finally relented and let me buy it. I rode it a ton, took it to San Diego the following summer, and eventually sold it – but probably shouldn’t have.
