When I was attending Gulf Breeze High School in the 1970’s, my friends and I weren’t debating the merits of our president. We didn’t know who was liberal or conservative. We didn’t argue about climate change, or transgenderism, or much of anything we tend to argue about these days.
However, we did argue about one thing: who was our favorite local surfer – Bzr Turner, or Yancy Spencer?
Bzr, pictured here, was the incredibly smooth and fast goofy foot. Yancy was the incredibly passionate, super stylish, very driven, regular foot.
Both were world class surfers. Both inspired a generation, or two, of Panhandle surfers.
Dave Skelton took the photos. The top two were @ Pensacola Beach. The bottom was in Texas.
