One of my all-time favorite photos.
One of the best ever East coast surf photographers, Larry Pope, took it in Hatteras. The year was around 1974.
Larry, who watched and photographed every great east coast surfer said this recently:

“I Don’t have many images of Yancy….but the ones I do have…I treasure.  To me….he was one of the best surfers that ever came out of Florida.“

I thought that was a fantastic statement for a gulf coast surfer!
