I have been surfing for over 20 years now and sadly I have just realized that I have missed one of the most important aspects of the sport that I love.  I have never experienced anything like I had the pleasure of experiencing yesterday.  I got to watch my first custom longboard shaped right in front of my eyes.  It is one of the coolest experiences I have ever witnessed!  I have seen dvd’s on how to shape a board and plenty of you tube videos but that doesn’t do it justice.   If you have never had a custom board shaped and if you have never gotten to watch your custom board being shaped then you are truly missing out on one of the most important aspects of our sport.  All I have to say is that Rick Bullock is AMAZING!  Just plain and simple.  He is shaping magic right now.  I learned more yesterday than I have in the last 20 years.  I want to give a big THANK YOU to Rick Bullock and Sean Fell at Waterboyz for being so awesome to me and my family and for all of the support that they have given to our website and for all the surfers that surf our area.  They really do love our sport and give our sport a great name. But seriously, if you have never had the opportunity to watch your board being shaped then you are missing out.  Enough talking now…. Check out my new board!

As I walk into the shaping room I see that Rick is already hard at work.

Here is my blank.  It kind of looks like a surfboard….

And here is the coolest part about my board.  Thumb rails on a longboard.  When is the last time that you have seen thumb rails on a longboard?  Sorry Sean I know you are going to hate me when you glass it but it’s going to be soooooo sick.  🙂

And a final view from the nose….  I cannot wait to see this board glassed and painted.  This is going to be the coolest board I have ever had.  No doubt about it and you know what is crazy??? I have not even ridden it yet.  WHOOOHOO I am excited.
